
| The Whitley heavy
bomber, made by Messrs. Armstrong Whitworth, is one of Britain's principal
weapons of attack. It is capable of a speed of 245 m.p.h., has a ceiling
of 22,000 feet, a cruising range of 1,315 miles and can carry a load
of over 10,000-lbs. (including crew, petrol, etc.) The narrow fuselage
accommodates a crew of five and has a passage leading to the gun-turret
at the extreme rear. The wing-span of the Whitley is over eighty feet. |
