| The Handley Page Hampden, details of which have only recently become available, is a medium-sized bomber of high performance. Its maximum speed is 265 m.p.h., and it cruises at 217 m.p.h. The fuselage which is somewhat deep is very narrow, giving clean efficient lines. For its size the Hampden carries a remarkably big bomb load, the weight of the plane fully loaded being almost double its weight empty. |
