| The Weighbridge St. Helier. Jersey Royal potatoes being weighed before being packed for export. The load would be weighed than taken on to one of the Merchants Stores nearby for packing. The empty van and barrels would than be re-weighed in order to assess the amount the farmer received for each load. As with many other historic Jersey landmarks the weighbridges and their buildings were swept away during the early 1960's. The buildings in the background are now Jersey's Maritime Museum. |
